“Stand in the Rain” began as a basic Bible reading schedule, designed so that it can be joined, in progress, at any time.
But when Jesus smiled on the endeavor, it soon got out of hand, taking on a Spirit-driven life of its own that has had wide-ranging impact.
Our premise from the start was that the Bible isn’t just a book, like Huck Finn or War and Peace, that we read and then take back to the library. The Bible is an environment, specifically designed by its Author to make us grow. Our theme verse, Isaiah 55:10-11, says that the Bible, to the soul, is what rain and light are to a garden. We thrive within its atmosphere. We wilt without it.
So make a commitment to serious systematic Bible study. Join Franklyn and Shelley Pfeil as we live and breathe the Bible together. We will be following Jesus through the “Stand in the Rain” Bible-reading initiative, or program, or crusade, or obsession, or compulsion, or whatever one might call it.
(Only) God knows where he’s going to steer this thing!

Stand in the Rain Bible Class Blog
We read the Bible with a purpose.
Isaiah 55:10-11 likens the Word of God to the rain, falling upon us and making us grow–closer to Jesus and more like Him every day:
As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
