the last Adam enters the Garden
The Word for today:
John 18:1-27
mark this: John 18:1 --
When Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples across the Kidron Valley, where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered.
In the Garden of Eden, the first Adam rebelled against the Father's will.
But the last Adam has reached the Garden now:
The Scriptures tell us, "The first man, Adam, became a living person." But the last Adam – that is, Christ – is a life-giving Spirit. (1)
In this garden, Gethsemane, the last Adam submits to the Father's will.
In Eden, Adam hid from God. In Gesthsemane, Jesus pours out his tranparent heart to God.
Man was driven out of Eden because of sin. In Gethsemane, Jesus prepares to drive sin out of the heart of man.
A sword was unsheathed in Eden (2). In Gethsemane, a sword is put away (3).
And with the crowing of the rooster (4), a brand new day is on its way.
